Roof Dryer Vent Cleaning in Escondido, CA

Why does the roof vent clog first?

Because that is where the air finally slows. Lint rides the duct, hits the last elbow under the jack, and drops. Vertical runs make it worse: what the blower can't lift falls back down. Once the pile builds, the flapper stops closing. An open flapper invites trouble. Birds and rodents nest in it, especially in chaparral-adjacent neighborhoods near Daley Ranch and the San Pasqual Valley.

Escondido's 1990s to 2000s tracts are full of 20 to 35 ft second-floor runs to roof jacks. Coastal salt corrodes hood louvers until they seize. Santa Ana ash and oak pollen cake the outside screen. Backcountry homes add decomposed-granite dust to the mix.

The work gets done from both ends. Hood comes off, the final elbow gets cleared by hand, and a rotary brush is fed through while a vacuum sits at the dryer. Then the flapper is checked by hand. It should swing freely and fall shut.

Watch for towels needing two or three cycles, a hot laundry room, or a burning smell. Brown staining on an upstairs ceiling below the vent is different. That is wet air escaping a joint in the attic, and brushing will not fix it.

Annually is realistic for two-story roof-vented homes. Crushed foil flex should be replaced, not cleaned.
